QOTD by Dylan Thomas

Published December 31, 2014 by lynn k scott

This quote is the first stanza of a poem, written by Dylan Thomas.  As the page is dedicated to my sister, I often think of her now when I read this.  This poem definitely sums up her battle with cancer.  I can honestly say, she did not go gently into that good night.  She truly fought with all her might.  It was one of my favorite poems before she got sick.  Since her death, it will remain as one of my all time favorite poems.

“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

No Resolution This Year

Published December 31, 2014 by lynn k scott

Nope, not doing it and you can’t make me. I’m not going to make empty promises to myself, call them “resolutions” and continue to do exactly what I have been all the years before me.

I broke the resolution chain last year and it’s staying broken. Instead of promising to do something, I choose to go a different route.

I have a friend, Dana, who inspired me to do this. Her way to start the new year is to pick a word to represent you for the entire year. Last year, my word was “perseverance”, as I was going through a lot.

In 2015, there are some new adventures that I am undertaking, including the Pink Herald, so I have chosen the word, “genesis” to see me through this upcoming year. Since genesis means “beginning”, I cannot think of a more suited word.

Next December, I will reflect on how well “genesis” fit this year. For the moment, I am excited to see what 2015 has to offer and how different things could be.

I ask you. Are you still going to pick yet another “resolution” or will you choose a word to represent you instead?

Welcome to my first blog posting.  Obviously, we need to start from the beginning.  I will try to keep it interesting, so you’ll want to keep coming back and check to see what is happening here.

Some topics I’ll be covering are:

  • Homeopathic Health Care
  • Essential Oils
  • Parenting
  • Cooking
  • Canning
  • Homeschooling
  • Military Support

If there’s something you’re interested in seeing on this blog, please let me know.  After all, if no one is interested in what I have to say, then there’s no real reason to have a blog.  Right?

Well, the first post is done.   We are on our way.  2015 here we come!
