Recently I redesigned the layout of my blog. I decided it was time to make an official logo for the blog as it seems it will be sticking around, for at least another year anyway.
I cannot draw to save my life. I remember drawing some hills with clouds in 7th grade. When my teacher looked at my work, he asked me if I saw the “butt” in my drawing. Now, I know he meant no harm, but sure enough, there was a “butt” right there on the page. Yup, it was official, art was not my subject.
I asked on Facebook which one of my friends could draw. One of my friends said her husband would probably be interested in doing it. Tom contacted me and I told him what I was looking for. He drew up a rough draft for me and it misted my eyes. I suggested a couple of changes, not major ones, by any means.
He did as I asked, and the logo was finished. I saw the finished design and then my eyes leaked. Damn my eyes and their “water problem”. It was everything I hoped for, but couldn’t make the drawing on my own.
It’s extra special Tom did this for me. You see, I would have never have met him if it wasn’t for my sister, Kathi. She “introduced” us. I’ve been friends with Tom and his wife, Kay, for a few years now. We’ve kept in touch, even though Kathi is gone now.
Facebook has its downsides, which I am the first to admit. However, without Facebook, I would have been lost after my sister passed away. When I gave up Facebook, and my old account where I was “friends” with my sister, our mutual friends were there, waiting for me, when I created a new account.
I will be incorporating the logo onto the page in the next few days. Well, that’s the plan. Hopefully, I won’t get sidetracked by life. Without further adieu…the new logo of The Pink Herald:
Infinity symbol with the Breast Cancer ribbon. Drawn by Tom Hollis.
