If you have Facebook, or worse, Pinterest, you can become bombarded by a multitude of crafts, home “shortcuts” or “hacks”. From upcycling old clothes to any number of DIY (Do It Yourself) crafts and decorations.
Alas, I fell into the trap. I admit, I’m thrifty as they come. I am trying to create simple, but crafty, pieces, while bringing some holiday cheer into the house at the same time.
I saw this adorable Easter-themed piece on Facebook and thought, “I can do that”. It took me a couple weeks to gather the necessary items. Part of that is my fault, because I wanted to find the items on sale. I’m a couponer and I don’t pay full retail when I don’t have to.
I had several glass pieces I could use at home. I made a quick trip to Michael’s to get two crafting items and decided I was ready to put this centerpiece together. I knew I wasn’t assembling exactly the way I had seen it done, but I was using what I had on hand. I think it turned out pretty good. Good enough to get to me attempt another centerpiece down the road. What do you think?
Now the “Welcome Spring” sign wasn’t part of the initial centerpiece, but it was there and thought it matched nicely. Quite frankly, I’m ready for Spring and then Summer. As for the peeps, I know the original design broke them all apart. My OCD wouldn’t let me do this, because the one I separated, didn’t stand like I wanted it to. I quickly “reattached” it to the other peeps and used 4 at a time and then pressed them into the glass.
All in all, I have a pretty design that lasts a couple weeks. The peeps seems to be shrinking now. I don’t mind really; except that my daughter is eyeing them like a lion stalking it’s prey. She has “sampled” two peeps because they weren’t as pretty as when I first made the centerpiece.
I will continue my quest to be crafty.
