“Counting Every Blessing”

I really enjoy the music of Rend Collective.  Their music personally speaks to me and their message of “Counting Every Blessing” puts things back into perspective for me when I find myself having doubts.

“Bleed The Same”

Published May 6, 2018 by lynn k scott

It’s Sunday morning and I have another song to share.

Today’s selection is “Bleed the Same” by Mandisa.  I have mentioned she and Toby Mac have collaborated on several songs and this happens to be another great outcome of their work together.

“Bleed The Same” has a great message.  It’s time to start listening to some great words of advice.

“Feel It”

Published May 5, 2018 by lynn k scott

Today’s music video is, “Feel It”, by Toby Mac.

Ok, as I have mentioned, I’m slightly obsessed with his music lately.  In part, the music speaks to me on so many levels.  His songs make me bop my head (and occasionally chair dance).  It’s hard not to get wrapped up in the positive vibes and the different beats he uses.

“Broken Things”

Published May 4, 2018 by lynn k scott

Today’s musical selection is, “Broken Things” by Matthew West.

When I first heard this song, it took my breath away.  He could have written this song about me.  I am broken on so many levels.  While, I do what I can, I always feel like I am feeling short.  Feeling like I’m not good enough.  That my past has caught up with me.

This song renewed my hope and my faith.  It’s ok to be broken.  It’s ok to accept that you are; there’s still a seat at His table for you.

“Good Morning”

Published May 3, 2018 by lynn k scott

I mentioned on a previous post that I would be sharing more music that I listen to.  While I primarily listen to contemporary Christian music, don’t let that stop you from watching the videos.

Today, I’m sharing Good Morning by Mandisa.  What I didn’t realize, is that Toby Mac and Mandisa have collaborated on quite a few songs and they compliment each other very well.  As I have become a huge Toby Mac fan recently, only right to share (an older) video of the two of them.

One thing that stood out to me about this song, besides how upbeat it is, watch both singers and how happy they both are.  They obviously love what they are doing and it shows.

So enjoy the song/video and have a wonderful day!

“Lights Shine Bright”

Published April 30, 2018 by lynn k scott

I know this music isn’t super new, but to me it is.  I’m having fun discovering new, contemporary, Christian music.  I was “introduced” to Toby Mac when my daughter attended a Christian school.

Growing up in the United Methodist Church, we sung the typical hymns.  It wasn’t until my daughter attended the school was I introduced to some amazing Christian songs.  I recently stumbled upon “Lights Shine Bright“, by Toby Mac.  This song has such an uplifting beat and a great message.  I have added meeting Toby Mac to my bucket list.  Gotta have dreams; right?

I admit, I’m currently “song obsessing” on “Lights Shine Bright”; so much so my daughter has asked me to pick another song to listen to.  NOPE!  LOL

Music has affected every aspect of my life.  It holds my memories, controls my moods, reminds me of those who care about me and reaffirms my faith.  From Rock ‘n Roll, to Country, to R&B to Christian, music keeps me grounded.

Lately, I primarily listen to Christian music and I love it.  There are so many artists that share their gift of music.  I plan on sharing more of the (Christian) songs that I am currently enjoying.

“Long Black Train”

Published January 14, 2016 by lynn k scott

I’ve decided, I’m going to post some of my favorite music videos and why I like them.  My taste in music varies greatly.  I like some Heavy Metal, Pop, Rock, Country, Native American, etc.  We won’t discuss it will also give me daily writing material.  That’s besides the point.

Music has played such an integral part in my life.  It’s been there when I have truly been alone.  It’s tied me to more memories, good and bad, than I can count and there’s nothing better than getting in the car, turning up the volume and just driving.

Over the last decade or so, I’ve come to appreciate and like Country music.  My mom loved country music when I was growing up. Country music, gives me a genuine feeling.  There’s just an honesty behind a lot a Country songs; situations that people can relate to.  We’ll start with Josh Turner’s, “Long Black Train“. If you haven’t heard it before, click the link and see what you think.

Besides the obvious metaphorical references to the song, this is the first Josh Turner song I ever heard.  It immediately reminded me of Country songs from the 1980s.  My mother’s favorite band back then was, The Oakridge Boys.  They were a gospel quartet and Richard Sterben sang bass.   Now don’t confuse that with ‘Daddy sang bass’.  I know, I dated myself with that reference.  Some of you are probably scratching your head and going, “Huh”???

Josh just reminded me of Richard was all.  He was also easy on the eyes.  Anyway, this song gave me comfort every time I used to listen to it.  I’ve chosen the wrong path many times throughout my life.  I’ve made some horrible decisions.  Yet, I’m still here and trying to make up for those bad choices.

For me, I also like that the song can reference God and still make it to mainstream radio and not have everyone so PC as to be judgmental about the lyrics.  I won’t be opting to ride the Long Black Train any time soon.  There’s still too much I have left to do.  Years ago, I don’t know if I could have said that, but time changes perspectives and outlooks.

I’d love to hear your perspective on the music links.  If you know this song or have just listened to it for the first time, what are your thoughts?
