Golden State Mopars!

I live in the “Golden State”, better known as California.  While I happen to reside midway between Sacramento and San Francisco, the Golden State Mopars, extend the length of the state.  20170309_150209.jpg

Who are the Golden State Mopars?  Simply put…they are a great group of men and women, who own Mopars and are part of a car club.  If you’ve ever seen this on your door or windshield, or maybe even been handed one it means, “you’ve been carded”.

Most of the group hangs out on Facebook.  If you’d like to connect to the group, just click the GSM group page.

This was taken from their Facebook “About” section:

Bringing Mopar Enthusiasts Together, Turning Friends Into Family…

Golden State Mopars is a car club for you. We love Challengers, Chargers, 300’s, Magnums, Vipers, old school Mopar Muscle, Trucks, Darts and anything SRT. Stock or highly modified, we like them all… We do cruises, meets, mod days, BBQs and other family friendly events. All we ask is that you are respectful and participate.

Facebook limits the invites we can send out to club members, so we can’t send invitations to everyone. However, ALL club members are welcome to any event hosted by Golden State Mopars. Our events are fun, relaxed and family friendly, come have fun and meet new friends.

I’m not a car person and I’m the first to admit it.  I’m the woman at a car show that walks past a car, says, “nice” and moves on.  My husband on the other hand, will get down on his hands and needs to check out the undercarriage, has to see the motor and might engage the owner in a conversation about the car.  Oh boy, when that happens, my eyes roll and look for someplace to buy a drink.  LOL

That being said, this car club has a lot of “meet-ups”.  If you’re available, you attend the events you’d like to go to; however, it’s not required.  While Mopar cars are the focus of the group and they are what brings everyone together initially, it can definitely be extended to a car family and support system.

We help each other with car issue recommendations (well, I don’t on those; you really don’t want me to either; trust me).  We celebrate engagements, births of the next generation of Mopar afficiondos, and well as the times that life presents challenges that may be a bit harder to handle.  We get together for car shows, BBQs and pool parties.

All in all, it’s a great car club.  Whether you have a Mopar daily driver, show car, or a “mom” (or “dad”) car, we’d be happy to have you!

Locked Out

Published January 26, 2016 by lynn k scott

Nothing tops off a challenging day like trying to leave work and the key fob is dead. I couldn’t get into my car. Crap!  I had to call my husband because he showed me once, months ago, how to bypass the key fob.  Oh right…I should have remembered.  Damn, there goes the alarm.  A very loud, attention-getting alarm.

One of the dispatchers came over to help. Then a driver came to lend a hand.  The dispatcher suggests putting the key, which is in the fob for emergencies, in the door.  I know I’m kinda car stupid, but that won’t work.  This car had doors that looked shaved, so there is no key or code entry on them.

We finally found the secret-squirrel access.  My husband sucks at giving step-by step directions.  Saying, “now look on the top” can mean so many part in the trunk.  We didn’t look where he originally tried to explain where the latch was.  Alarm resounds. Woo hoo that’s twice. So obnoxious is my alarm.

Dispatcher opens fob, wipes something off and I can use it again. Need to replace FOB battery ASAP.

Want an anti-theft car?  Caddies are the way to go apparently. It even gives you a message when you finally start it…

Don’t Rev On Me

Published May 13, 2015 by lynn k scott

Last night I was heading out to a meeting.  I was at the stoplight, right before getting ready to access the freeway.  A new, shiny black charger pulls up next to me.  I could see two young males in the car as the driver starts revving the engine.

I have become a car snob over the years.  I freely admit this.  I grew up with always driving run-down cars, never purchasing new and something always needed to be fixed on our cars.  I have been involved in the import scene as well as having dealt with muscle cars.  I have been a participant in numerous car shows (against my will but that’s another story…) and I’m not as “car-stupid” as I used to be.

As this “kid” kept revving his engine last night, I couldn’t help but think:

  • Give mommy and daddy’s car back to them
  • If you knew anything about cars, a CTS has beaten Chargers in a variety of categories, including performance.
  • You actually think your 4-door, family car, is even comparable to my luxury sports car.  That’s cute!
  • If you really wanted to sports car, you would have gone with the Challenger and not the Charger.
  • Speaking of sports cars, try that crap again and you best hope I don’t see you with MY Challenger; my other car.  Doubt you’d pull the same, stupid stunt then.
  • Don’t rev on me.

Btw…Chargers aren’t bad cars. Since I own a Challenger, there’s just no comparison (imo)

Again, I admit I’m a car snob.  But I’m a downright b*tch when it comes to “children” thinking they are grown and want to race, when they are clearly outclassed and don’t have the common sense of an ass; sorry mule.  I don’t race, but I do know how to drive.  That’s all I’m sayin’.
